Nahhhh, Garry's Mod wouldn't be the same at all if it was made on a diff engine.

I doubt gmod will update the engine anytime soon, probably looking at a gmod 2 in the future with an overhaul maybe.

Pretty sure Garry is already starting it. It's called "SBox" though he has said himself that it's a long way from being a GMod 2, though it is in development.

I think that would just ruin most of the addons on the workshop. But if it only affects the physics and collisions/visuals, I think it'd be alright. But I like Gmod the way it is now.

I've seen S&Box and it looks almost exactly like Garry's Mod.

I think garry's mod wouldn't really be Garry's mod without the source engine however the gmod developers are working on something similar to what you suggest
