Hey,

For around 4 years now I've been playing games with my GTX 1070 card and its surprisingly held up with its performance. I'm able to easily play at 1440P with 144FPS on most games, sometimes even max settings. Since the announcement from Nvidia on the RTX 3000 series was only a couple of days ago I've been really interested in getting the RTX 3070 card. It is only $500 and supposedly faster than an RTX 2080 Ti. I'm curious if I should try and get the 3070 to replace my 1070. Some games I would love to play at max settings but I just can't and Im also unable to mess with ray tracing any. So my question is, should I sell my GTX 1070 and get the RTX 3070?

While the $500 price tag seems really alluring, you should be careful of the other costs that come along with the upgrade. Do yourself a favor and do some research to make sure that your current motherboard supports the GTX 3070. I know that the B550 will support the 3070 but I'm unaware of what your mobo is.

It really depends on what you're playing and how much you need that extra power. I'd say it's worth it in general for gamers though. Unless you really strapped for cash, then I'd say stick with what you got. 1070 isn't bad honestly.

1070 is, as you say, a decent card. Make sure you dont have any other costs getting a 3070, like mobo or PSU. Theres not a lot that uses raytracing at the moment, so dont feel there's a rush to get one immediately

I think the 3070 drops in Oct. The 3080 dropped last week and it's a ghost, even for some who pre-order. Nvidia claims more are hitting the shelves this week.

The 3090 drops this week and at $1499 retail, 24 GB GDDR6K, two people I know who were dogged last week on the 3080 are ponying up and going worth the 3090 this week instead. They didn't spend the night outside of Microcenter, but went down extremely early (like in the past) and after a few hours were told it wasn't going to happen.

It all depends on how much you want to spend on your graphics card. Obviously, RTX would be better choice, but it costs much more and it's not needed if you play classic titles.

look at the benchmarks for the 3070. This card outperforms my GTX 2080 Ti :(
