Any sane person who spends too long on a DarkRP will be inevitably banned. My name's Erwin, and I am a menace of the category, I've got bans for crashing servers, duplicating just about everything I can get my hands on, and just being an utter annoyance.

Here's my series of steps to getting around that pesky ban I'm sure you don't deserve:

Ol' Faithful - Family Sharing
Chances are, a server's not going to IP ban you, or even ban your family shares.

Family sharing is EASY, just go to your tray and find your steam settings:

Next, authorize your computer for family sharing from the account you own Garry's Mod with. (NUMBER 1)

After that, you'll need some more steam accounts. Log out and start making some fresh ones! If you love yourself, use the same email for all them, it will save you trouble, and server owners will never know the difference. Log in on your computer with your new accounts one by one, and then switch back to your GAME-OWNING account.

After going back to the family share settings on your GAME-OWNING account, you should find many more new entries on the checklist below. Check yes (be careful not to double click) for each account you want to assign a family share of the game. (NUMBER 2 ABOVE)

Just cycling through family shares will grab you 5 fresh accounts to start, and 5 more every 60 days when your rate limit resets. Be careful not to double click or add back the same accounts, because you'll waste your rate limit to change out accounts with. After 60 days, swap out your check marks for new accounts.

Sometimes servers *WILL* employ counters to family shares, and you'll be forced to use a clean copy of Garry's Mod if you want to ban evade.

Someone's Angry - Free VPN
Servers rarely IP ban, but if they do you will have to employ a VPN. My VPN of choice is Windscribe, because its free for 10 GB a month. You don't need to pay for one with high speeds or anything, it's just Garry's Mod, and if you only use your VPN for evading, you won't run out of data. If you believe you've been IP banned (usually your ban reason says "Added to Ban List"), try using a VPN and a family share first.

If you're breaking out a fresh copy of Garry's Mod that's not been family shared, you should use a VPN so you don't waste a clean copy, it's just good practice.

A VPN will also protect you from angry and shady server owners trying to cause harm to you by abusing their access to your IP. (Shout out to ProtectionRP) It is recommended to use a VPN if your dispute is personal.

Sneaky Data - EID.txt and Copycats
Sometimes servers have clever ways of countering ban evasion, that will even ban clean, non-family shared copies if you join from the same computer. For the most common of these methods, I've found a simple remedy:

EProtect plants a file in your Garry's Mod/garrysmod/data folder called "eid.txt" that contains either your steamID 64 or 32 (can't remember). Deleting it will only protect you for 1 evasion, until it's planted right back into your data folder next time you load into an EProtect server. My strategy of choice is to set check the file to READ ONLY (NUMBER 3) and empty it out (NUMBER 4). Be sure to apply the read only, and save the emptied folder.

This method will protect you from EProtect's data folder tracker until you reinstall GMOD or replace EID with something that's not read only.

Whenever your evasion is blocked from a well-coded server, check the dates on items in your data folder and review their contents. If something seems fishy, cut it out, it probably won't hurt.
