Does anyone here make games? Have you tried anything with rust? What was your experience with the current rust engines, or did you make your own?

Im currently going to school for game development. If by ?Rust Engine, you mean Unity, then yes I have made games on Unity. They were all fairly small in scope, only having about 5-10 minutes of playtime where you could just repeat the level to either get a higher score or get all the items. The ones I worked on the most were a retro 2D platformer and a 3D Tower Defense game.

Ah, no, I mean using then systems programming language Rust in place of C++/Cfor the development of a game engine.

Unity is written in C++ with some CLR hooks that runs on an (last I checked) over version of mono, so that you can write inc#.

Im currently working on a project working to use low level Foreign function interfaces with the Vulkan API,and cpal for audio, but Im disappointed with the additional cratedependencies (libraries in rust)that the newer version (post last Julys0.11.0)of cpal has added. It seems friendlier, but I prefer to manage the threads myself, and the new callbacks are odd.

Imay have some experience and a Masters in this area.

Good luck with youre schooling.
