What makes you think that's bad?
Wouldn't the more Gameservers you have = higher potentional profits?
Also if you get good mods / admins you don't really have to care that much about your servers!

You'll have to pay for the servers and having 0 income makes it a not good idea.. unless you can host all servers for free and have mods/admins for everyserver doing a good job 24/7

Huh?
Where did 0 income come from.

If you make a bunch of servers or lets say we start with 3 servers which we spend 15$ a month on each.

At the end of the month we manage to make 80$, why not invest those extra 35$ in more servers.

After having servers running for a long time you can also shut down the ones doing bad?

but the premise here isnt that players are needed?
so having 0 players you'll hang on hope to gather players..
am i wrong?
oh 1 thing, please dont take me as being rude or so we are just sharing thoughts Smile

thats why i said up there thats the best way to gather some players would be with live videos..
theres tons of servers out there, too many with good environment, and you know, people wont start spending money on any server w/o feeling that the server "IS THE SERVER"

at least i dont spend on servers that i feel unconfortable, i know you understand me

(sorry about my english)

thats why, also, i said, with 0 incoming at the very start..

he will need to conquer the player's confidence with the server..

Ah I see,
Well sure you need to invest some time in making the server grow at first.

There are a lot of ways to make a server grow.
Forums related to the game is really good, putting " looking for staff " in server name helps a lot from my experience.

From my experience you can find some people wanting to be moderators pretty early on and all you need to do is trust them and with a little bit of luck they can help you grow your server by sharing it to friends / posting on forums etc.

I don't host any servers atm, I have had admins fk up servers altho from those few servers I have hosted most of my players came from mods / admins inviting new players, then servers started ranking a bit on top blabla servers sites / forum threads started showing up etc.

Also you can have big sales when servers are new and people might put in some money, if you are lucky you might make profit first month.

TL;DR :D you got my point :D

most dificult part is to trust..
Sometimes you have close friends wanting to be mods.. Personally, its a mistake..
i had LII server, GTH Server, Tibia Server, Gunbound Server, Terraria Server, and having close friends to moderate never ended well..

im starting a Minecraft Server for my friends and viewers, i dont want to make money at all, twas hard for me to go for minecraft cuz i dont like the game as them..

I mean, im 34 and i saw the saw with other eyes when minecraft exploded on youtube and tons of kids fooling around.. i even tried to play but i hate ppl that only want to mess with you..
Also that many youtubers doing MC only for money, i dont blame them.. the money is there..
So i decided to leave minecraft for whom loves it..

And im coming back cuz some of my viewers are now my friends and they want a server..
Im hosting it myself..
25mp upstream
core i7 7700k @ 4.9 OC
16gb Ram

but they want me to host it in a 24/7 (my server runs 16/7) and that i open for everyone who wants to join...

I dont make money with it, i cant handle, right now they dont want to spend, and i also dont trust anyone to take care..

But i do know if i take serious on it i could make some..
right now my main focus is to finish the college and my gf that is pregnant..

My personal thought again
i still thinking, starting a yt channel would be the best way to gather some players..

The guy just need to stream one week or less with New MineCraft Server Live at least 4hrs/day and he'll start to see..

Sorry for the long post

I feel garrys mod makes the most money as minecraft is slowly dying and gmod is still alive somewhat

It's profitable if your For example Gmod server starts an ad and sells Plugins- Ads to another product and get % of sales of Money to keep the ad up

Actually if you have good team - you can make an server for every game with profit

One time i owned mc server, so i went on planet crapcraft and put server in server list, i had to make banner and since i was 9 years old i made some in MS paint and said i am looking for high ranked staff, my 512 mb server with 100 slots filled in 5 minutes.

not sure if its still good in 2k18
