Currently gmod has an active community on DarkRP, TTT, Prop Hunt, etc. Think that shortly Garrys mentioned that Gmod 2 is in development, that you should take into account for your new server

Gmod has like loads of servers still running and a massive playerbase. It is definitely alive and it just keeps evolving!
