I heard they are actually making a thing that is kind of like gmod v2 but not exactly like it.

IMO I think Gmod will be ported over to source2. This is because there is no need for a sequel to a game like this. It is so open ended that and moddable that and the fact the games has no story, there just isn't a need for one.
