So my buddy is really interested in Anime and recommended me to start watching one. He told me one to watch but I forgot. What is a good anime to start watching if you've never seen an episode ever?

You could start off with some good mainstream ones such as Steins;Gate, Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Code Geass, Death note, Tokyo Ghoul

I think death Note is one of the best to start with because it really shows what Anime are capable of presenting without forfiling these "Anime stereotypes"

always start with the mainstream story driven ones, before you dive into the more weird ones, because anime can get weird lol

Attack on titan is pretty good. I haven't seen it myself though.

Pretty much most mainstream animes.
I'd personally recommend Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood / Steins;Gate / Tokyo Ghoul / Death Note.
You could also watch an Anime Movie like kimi no nawa or such;
( INACTIVEDUE TO STUFF IRL )

I'd start with something like not too long like Full Metal Alchemist to get a taste.
Then I'd move onto other series like Yu Yu Hakusho, Death Note, etc.
