Good first anime?

Evangelion! It's just the best anime ever, very deep.

DB Super, Death Note, Attack on Titan would be my top 3 recommendation.

Clannad, Attack on Titan, Death Note and all those pretty popular anime are a good first pick.

My first anime that made me stepped into the world of anime was Naruto

Bleach starts out pretty slow but becomes fantastic, epic, and humorous after the first 5 episodes. I like it better subbed than dubbed though.

I'd say it depends on their interests, if they are interested in nerdy shit like magic there is fairytail. If they want badass shit with gore than AOT. Or a quick funny action packed one to get them hooked, The devil is a part timer is solid

yooooo the devil is a part-timer i didn't think was gonna be good but damnnn
it had the perfect combination of drama, action, and humor

Like everyone else has said before, try the mainstream animes.

Sadly.. SAO is my first anime and it feel awesome.. even though right now I realize how shit the anime adaptation was.. ( I'm reading the novel , Alizization will be awesome.. mark my word)
