if you can find an organization at school or a team/club that's hiring or looking for a designer for freelance, that's usually a good bet. if you're just trying to get more experience, i would reach out to clubs and orgs to offer your work and see if you can trade!
Check and see if your school has any student positions in their marketing department or if housing or student life has student designer jobs. I work in the student life department at my school and it's great because it's an hourly job, my boss is a great mentor, and I get work experience in a studio environment. If that's not an option, talk to your professors and see if they have any connections or opportunities they can direct you towards. I got a pretty good contract job that way.
