Actually, minecraft has still one of the largest gaming audiences according to google statistics. Almost 100x what COD has.

It's far from dead. Still a lot of 15 year olds + using their parents credit cards.

Sigh low quality post farmers. I know the majority of you want 15 posts but please put some effort into it.

Not a single reply to this thread has given a really constructive response. I've seen nothing but "i think it's not" or "no because my server has this and that". I hope this reply will end that trend and actually give people a platform to create a response from. Like most others, i would suggest NO. The reason is not because "my server has 50 players" or "servers are thriving". These two reasons may contribute and i'll actually head more into detail but I'd also like to discuss the reason people are saying it's dying anyway.

Advertising --

Unless you're looking for it, you really wont find much advertising around displaying Minecraft itself. Snapchat and YouTubehave recently been showing advertisements about Minecraft Pocket Edition but it really hasn't been showcasing much other than 'You can come buy it!'. Advertisingfor Minecraft used to be widespread and more of a showcase, encouragingusers to play based on what was presented to them. A sense of adventure was actually given to the individual through the advertisements and really itched those to play and explore, create and innovate however they wanted. Their creativity wasn't a limit had they tried hard enough.

Here are two examples of Minecraft advertisements. One was7 years ago for the PC Edition and one was 3years ago for the Pocket Edition.

https://youtu.be/MmB9b5njVbA

(It will only allow me to place one in a [yt] tag so i just decided to paste both as links).

If you watch these trailers properly, you'll notice that you feel a sense of excitement and an urge to explore the minecraft world,Or if you're an old time player, perhaps a sense of nostalgia? This is what Minecraft's recently advertisements lack and they really haven't been trying to push them out as hard as they used to because they dont need to anymore. This is one of two reasons why you don't hear about minecraft anymore through advertising, one reason which may make thegame feel dead.

Age --

Now when i say age, don't think I'm talking about Minecraft. I'm talking about YOU. Most of those that claim Minecraft is 'dead' or 'dying' used to be old time players or idiots who have just never touched the game and haven't seen it advertised. As time goes on, people get sick of things. People move on and people reserve the right to do so. Minecraft is no exception and is not a life long phenomena. Just like you can move on, your friends can move on and so can youtubers which is where most of the hype for the game resides regardless. A large majority of popular YouTubers have made the decision to no longer create content for Minecraft and this has obviously made the minecraft scene on YouTube much smaller, this does NOT mean the game is dying. It is simply less people focused on the game on the YouTube platform.

Since i started playing Minecraft when i was 12, all of my friends were heavy into the game and so was i. Years later, my friends had dropped off the game and i had originally thought it was dead because i didn't really see the group that i once played with on the game anymore. That was before i woke up and thought about it.

Based on Minecraft's popularity, new generations will be exposed to it for years to come and nothing will stop this. New people will constantly jump onto the game and old people will always fall off, and those old people are the only ones you notice because they're just like you.

Server Popularity--

Another factor we have to take in is that Minecraft servers may not be thriving like they used to be, but that doesn't mean the game is dead. At this point, the playerbases on the big time servers are stable and not declining anymore and can argued that they might be slowly increasing again.

If you take a look at this pagehttps://minecraft-server-list.com/sort/Popular/ You'll see the list of servers and their current playercounts (not in ascending/descending order) and you'll notice that giant servers like Hypixel still hold up to 20,000 players in their lowest hours. Meanwhile in the servers list, there are servers with hundreds, if not thousands of players at similar times. Keep in mind, gaining and keeping a playerbase is a difficult task to take upon and Hypixel has clearly mastered it.

If you disagree with any of the points I've made, please make a civil response. If you agree, please give my post a like Smile
