During theGreat Galactic Warand followingGalactic War, manyJediledRepublictroopersinto battle against the reconstitutedSith Empire.
Jedi were assigned to serve as generals (some asLords) of theArmy of Lightduring theNew Sith Wars. Most of those still alive by theSeventh BattleofRuusanperished in that battle.
During theClone Wars, mostJedi KnightsandMasterswere given therankof general.ORBATfor theGrand Army of the Republicaccommodated for 80 Jedi Generals in command ofcorps(along with aclone marshal commander) and 320 in command oflegions(along with asenior clone commander). There were alsoHigh Jedi Generalsin command of the tenSystems Armies, andSenior Jedi Generalsin command of the twentySector Armies.Padawanswere given the rank ofJedi Commanderand put in command of each of the army's 1,280regiments. There were also Jedi of other rank, such asColonelTyneir Renz.
Some Jedi refused to accept their new military status and left theOrder, while others still chose to work undercover rather than on the battlefield. Many of the Jediofficersdiedduring the war against theSeparatists, andclone trooperskilled most of the remaining generals whenOrder 66was executed bySupreme ChancellorPalpatine, aSith Lord.
