I am engaged in servers TF2 and CS GO everything works on c++ there everything is clear, and here works on lua it is not clear how it all works. Little information on sites about plugins or how to configure the server, where some configs. While it was all very hard)

Looking at his audience, you can tell they're alive and dead.

Garry's mod is no where near dead it still gets consistant 42k players peak a day and 20k+ early mornings I would suggest making a policeRP server there isnt a load of competition just a couple of servers try make it unique with custom items and well working rules

You need to choose the perfect gamemode and dedicate alot of time into creating the server. dont just think of it as a cash game because it just wont work if you have that mindset.

It's been a long time since I had touched Gmod and I had used to be really big in running communities. Before I get back into playing and ATTEMPTING to start a community, what are your thoughts. Is it even worth it now? Is GMOD dead or is it still alive?
Gmod is waaaaaaaaaaay more cancerous now. It is a bit worth it but the annoying part of setting up isn't. It's annoying setting up

Great time to start, not as many players as 3 years ago but still alot. I made a server a week ago called SovetskiTTT, you get the most players on the weekends and so far i've had about 5-14 people playing simultaneously. Had about 40 different players on so far, very much worth starting if you have not already.

When starting a community in garrysmod depending on the gamemode it's near impossible on your own. Sure you can code/configure and create the gamemode itself no problem but getting a playerbase is something you need friends and people you know for. It a classic case of you need to have money to make money.

What can I tell you for sure, is that there is a lot of competition nowadays. Your server should be somewhat unique in order to be popular, usually, servers die-off nowadays because of low playerbase/lack of donations.
