How do you find backdoor's in addons

Some codes are easy to find, but some are very difficult, that why you should buy you're own addons from GMS

1. Try running nomalua (Link: https://github.com/THABBuzzkill/nomalua) just keep in mind there are always many false positives.
2. Look through suspicious addons (and always check any new ones you get) particularly go to \lua\autorun and check the autorun file, that's where most people put backdoors. Something like a link is a dead giveaway.
3. Keep in mind you are never fully safe from backdoors unless you thoroughly check every file and know a bit about coding. The easiest way to find a backdoor is never get an addon with one in the first place. So buying your own addons for guaranteed safety or at the least if you download leaks, make sure they are from a respected user of the forums (usually this means the link will require credits but its a rightful tradeoff)

How would you know who's respected in a community?, I'm creating a darkrp server and finding this website is a blessing. Don't want to spend money on anything besides hosting, if I can.

People with higher levels, reps, more posts, etc. I wouldn't even consider myself trustworthy because my account is relatively new (I used to have another that I deleted a bit ago). But people who are generally active can probably be trusted, you can check profile comments as well because other memberswill usually vouch for those who give high-qualityleaks there, or on the flip side say that they provided leaks with backdoors.

Also, be careful with very large leak packs. They are much more worth it for the credits, but even people who are generally trustworthy might not be able to check every addon for a backdoor. Because usually it's just a compilation of leaks they found and not taken directly from gmodstore.

Okay sweet thank you. If I find a backdoor can I remove it?, and use it like normal afterwards? i.e. if theres a link on one can I remove it and disable the backdoor?

Yes unless they put more than one. Normally it's just deletingthe line of code in something like Notepad++. Which you should probably get if you don't have because I would consider basic Lua file editing necessary for running a Gmod server.

To be fair, most people aren't going to be that tricky about it because most of the people putting in backdoorsare just losers trying to troll people cause they have nothing better to do.

Ah okay thank you. I plan on updating do notepad++. Also, what does a backdoor do?, does it give someone access to my server files or entire computer or what? There are tons of addons on this website I'd like to use but don't want any backdoors in my servers.
