yep i agree with this, there are two main sexes, but than there are still some animals that are asexual. so there are really more than two biological sexes.

Wayyyy too many. The people here are saying 2 and 3, there are tons more than 2 or 3 genders.

Oh boy. This must be a good forum if questions like this are allowed; most other media (e.g. Reddit, Facebook, Twitter) the questioner would be "virtually murdered".

What I accept as a definition of the word "gender" = roughly "identification group of reproductive organs when multiple creatures are required to produce offspring".

All animal species (including humans) that I can think of require two genders (i.e. are identified as belonging to two groups) called "male" and "female", with 2 different sets of reproductive organs,in order to produce offspring. Fungi, bacteria, most plants are genderless, as they require only one parent to produce offspring, this single parent having both "male" and "female" , or "hermaphroditic" features (these terms used as analogies to the reproductive systems of other species, according to their function).

Thus, I would say there are 2 genders, "male" and "female", with arguably a 3rd "hermaphrodite". "Genderless" is not a gender, just as nothing isn't the same as 0, or how Colorless Mana doesn't count as a color in Magic the Gathering. Anything more out of the list of zillions of arbitrary and ill-defined modern human "genders" I would define as a mental problem or PTSD manifestation of a poor person who needs help. Any physical manifestations of modern human "genders" are either artificial (plastic surgery) or mutant deformities.

What I accept as a definition of the word "sex" = synonym of the previously defined "gender"; or, the act of copulation; or, (verb), the act of identifying the gender of a gendered species.

As for stereotypical (human) gender roles (e.g. male provider, female carer, Amazon warrior, etc. etc.) these vary between cultures. In more primitive cultures, they are typically defined depending on physical strength - men are typically stronger, more aggressive than women, and so are more easily able (and willing) to engage in warfare, heavy manual labour, farming, hunting, which leaves women to work in "gentler" jobs, caring for the household, children, clothiery, etc. More technologically advanced societies such as our own means physical strength is meaningless (thanks to machinery/technology), and the roles of men and women are more interchangeable, though they will still be influenced by individual preferences.

to many to count... and if you dont add them all in a list on the internet everyone goes mad

I simply think there are two genders but if anyone was willing to explain why theres more ill be open minded and listen

I agree with the Thai people. I think there are three gender. And I think that's very smart.

We're all different combinations of masculine, feminine, and neutral traits so i'd say there's no certain number, but more importantly, there are no benefits to making everyone fit into a defined gender. like, why? what's the point? who cares?

There is definitely only 2. I do not agree with anyone who says there is more than 2.

idk i think there are as many genders as people need to feel comfortable in their body

Seriously. This is one of those things where we're putting human categories on things that don't fit into categories. No matter how you define it you leave some people out.
