I have 32gb on 3200 14CAS cause i use my pc for gamening and 3d design. I actually need them to not get any freezing lag while i work. (maybe it's overkill but i enjoy it and constantly my pc use 12gb with just spotify and opera)

16. One thing that matters and is often overlooked is the type of memory (DDR4 or DDR3) and the speed (2133 MHz all the way to 4800 MHz in the case of DDR4). Also, dual channel is really important for additional performance (look it up if you want to know what it is).
My RAM is corsair 2x8 GB Corsair Vengeance 3600 MHz RGB (lol). 16 GB is probably all you need for gaming.

16gb DDR4, wanting to upgrade to 32gb because I have quite a few games that rip through that first 16 and end up crashing.

2x8gb is more than enough for most users including me . If I really need more I can just put in more!. People are just pimping out their PCs with everything including 32/64gb - not much point really unless Fortnite uses lots of ram but people can do what they want with their money.
