Make the kind of content that you want, don't try to be trendy, build up an audience that wants to see your shit, not just some one hit wonder style of video fishing for views

Make a nice clickbaiting thumbnail + title and there you go.
Or just make short but meaningful top 10 / before - after videos

Honestly, don't try to copy any of the career YouTubers... Don't shout into the mic, Face-cam's help sometimes but there are some gamers that haven't ever shown their faces and still get thousands of views on a video. If you have a friend who can do graphic art, custom thumbnails always sets you apart from the rest as well as a well designed YouTube channel page.

It doesn't take much but it isn't something that will happen overnight. Some YouTubers have been at it for nearly 10 years. It takes time and effort. Good luck.
