Hello! haven't seen a guide in herefor creating your first map so I thought I'd start a thread for that.
I'm Scara and I have made 2 maps so far, my goal is to keep going and make defuse maps and co-op maps.
This is not a guide for making a co-op or "competitive" defuse map, those do take a long time to patch and balance

This guide will cover the basics, you can use it to make your first CSGO map, something to warm up with your friends before comps or to settle 1v1s and alike.

Minimum System Requirements:
  • PU: Intel Core i5 or AMD Phenom II X4 with at least 2,5 GHz
  • CPU SPEED: Info
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • OS: Windows 7,8
  • VIDEO CARD: GeForce 460 / Radeon HD 5850 / Intel HD 4600 minimum 1024 MB RAM
  • PIXEL SHADER: 5.0
  • VERTEX SHADER: 5.0
  • FREE DISK SPACE: 5 GB
  • DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 1024 MB
You can run the map editor on slower machines (I have) but its not a top notch experience.

INSTALL AND PLAY CSGO BEFORE YOU CONTINUE, SINCE IT WILL INSTALL THE FILES YOU NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN MAP

Keep in mind that compiling your map does take a while, so if its your first map you want to do something small to test the "skeleton" of what you wanna do. (bigger maps and maps with more objects will take more time to compile, specially if you have a lot of light sources.)

Now that we have that out of the way, lets install the map editor:

  1. Open the Steam window.
  2. Go to theLibrary.
  3. Change the list toTools.
  4. Find and double-click on the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive -SDKitem.
  5. Read over the dialog box and clickDownload and Install/Nextto continue
  6. TheSDK will then be downloaded to your computer via Steam.

- Once you have downloaded and installed that go ahead and open it, choosing Hammer World Editor

Assuming that everything worked out, you are now in the editor, I could explain what to do but at this point with the GUI its probably easier if you see a video explaining how to do it, so I'm gonna link it here:

these videos aren't mine, I just thought of posting so you too, can create your first map on CSGO
