Is Buying Gems in "Clash of Clans" Pointless?

What I hate about some games, is that you pay to win, I mean, in CoC, you pay, you get shit, you outplay others, you win, it's dumb, or at least that's how I see it.
On the other hand, look at CSGO, you buy skins, you buy colors on your weapon, that sounds so stupid, but at least it's not giving you any advantage against other players, it's your skill.
I wouldn't recommend paying for CoC gems, for the sake of how fun will it be to win without them.

At the time, spending tons of money on the game for faster time and more buy huts was great. Then I got bored of the game and now I want all that fucking money back. So unless you're so sure you won't be bored of the game, I don't see the problem. I'm just a retard.

I'm Playing Clash of Clans since 2.5 years and didn't bought any gems. Who gonna pay for those gems. I use Whaff Rewards for gems purchase.

Freemium is practically the worst thing to happen to gaming, I always ditch games like that as soon as I pick up on the gimmick

You don't really need to buy, if you're really serious about the game. But if you want to build fast, then you can by gems instead.

pointless, i never spend gems from beginning and I have 7k gem now...

It was worth it 1-2 years ago where it was a lot harder to receive gems. I purchased some gems myself at this time and they paid off to be honest.
