Hi !
As I try in this direction of mining
If you ask about mining on own pc or lap , of course no ( for bitcoin ) but you can mine altcoins which new released
but if you want to invest and do nice profit , you can buy ascii which is more strong from any pc or server ))
about energy bill , if you live in a country where bills very cheap you can try it
will advice another way to get electricity from natural ways ( if you have or can make by your self )

I agree I think bitcoin mining at any level hasn't really been profitable. There is too much % on actaully discovering coins. The costs are high. The only person who wins on miding on consumer hardware is your power company.
