I mean if u download a certain mod he will be pretty much real...

To be fair, I think something like Herobrine could be something Minecraft would benefit from as it would work as a toggleable option for the difficulty as it would mean when you turn him on you always have a constant threat and gotta be on your a game you can just relax in a hard game for example.

no herobrine is not real. He is just a joke put in the change logs from time to time. But there is a real mc account with the name Herobrine.
