Just Wondering.

Also would it make your computer way faster if you did.

usually the multi cpu system is used on some server boards..
not good in gaming configuration :D

Yeah like the two above me stated. Totally possible but often either server or workstation setups. Servers can have up to 4 CPUs on board, afaik, probably even more :D Workstations tend to have max two, mostly due to the amount of heat that has to be dissipated. Again usually used in data centers.

You would need a motherboard which has two CPU sockets to accomplish this. I wouldn't recommend doing this for things like gaming though... stick to using dual-CPUs on servers.

Yes, you can even have 4-CPU motherboards. I built a server using a Tyan, dual-Xeon motherboard, and it has been very responsive for years. When you build a dual-cpu computer, you need to make sure that the "stepping" of the CPU's is the same, and also, of course that the CPU's are multiprocessor capable. It's challenging, but a lot of fun to build a multiprocessor computer (it's really called a workstation or a server, when you're creating such a build). Here's a tip: Try to get a case that allows the motherboard to lie horizontally. The heatsinks on dual-CPU configurations are best when they are big and copper. That means that they're heavy. If you have a vertically-oriented motherboard, that can put a lot of stress on the CPU mounts. Keeping things horizontal spreads the weight of the heatsinks, and puts a lot less stress on the motherboard.

there actually ARE Motherboards with multiple CPU slots. its just hard to get a compatible CPU that fits in one of these sockets.

If you have a 4 sockets mother board you can mount also 4 CPU. Please consider Tyan mobo if you want to assemble a multi-cpu system.

Please note that not all the CPU's can be installed in superscalar mobo.

yeah and modern processors have multiple processor cores so you are probably actually running multi processors without even knowing it
