For Bitcoin yes. But there are alternative CC-s which you can exchange later. Like ethereum.

Btc mining is dead, but all other crpyto still live so yeah semi dead

if you want to do it legally then yes it is dead.
You would have to have a lot of hashrate and free electrity to make a profit

I think that with things like RATs, people use other computers for mining but it's not a worthy investment to get a rig and use your own money.

mining is not profitable at this time unless you have really cheap or free power! I have 5 mining rigs witch cost $12 a day to run and i am luck to mine $5 worth of coins. But all it depends if you are mining for profit or mining to HODL

I closed mining in 02/2018 after 16month of mining on 15 GPUs... Damn nice times!

it obviously still profitable but not how people make it to be , last time i checked you need 16 months to repay your setup and start earning
