Israel and Palestine

Once again, Israel and Palestine are in the news for conflict. As ever, something sparks it off, the other side retaliates and escalates, and it ends up in an escalating spiral of retaliatory violenceuntil it peters out in a few weeks/months. This has been happening every few years for decades now. Will the situation ever change? These conflicts never result in real harm to Israel, as it has the overwhelming military and economicupper hand- there's nothing Palestine can really do to force it to change. Is Palestine doomed to slowly loseterritory and control until there's nothing left, or is some sort of mutual settlement possible?
