i think you need to focus on the language, you realy want to learn the language otherwise it will take ages! also if you have the possibility please seek people that speak that lenguage

Check out some TED talks on the topic, essentially there is no one right answer. Immersion doesnt necessarily work these days as was suggested in the days of old.
