Can't recommend this site enough: https://www.tutorialspoint.com/

The way it explains stuff is just incredible. Highly recommend starting out with Python as it's very flexible and incredibly forgiving in a lot of ways. Many languages require you to do specific actions in specific ways which can be a bit of a pain in the ass. Good luck!

To answer your question i will just tell you my experience:
Got some basics from youtube
Started to read some manuals
Decided to make a little project to understand my level and get some experience
When i didn't have a clue on how to program a specific functionallity i would look out some examples
Repeat!
Reapeat!
Raise skill Level
And so on

I've been programming for more than 3 years now and the way I learned it by looking at people's code. The more you see the better you can get a better overall view

The best way to learn coding is practicing in that type or sphere where you want to code. Start with small, end with big.

Udemy, Codecademy, Lynda, Coursera etc.
Check these sites out, they all offer excelent courses. The downside is that they're paid but you can easily find ways to getthose courses elsewhere for free. Just need todo a little googling that's all.
