You can try the faithful. In my opinion it's a really nice texture and easy on performance.

I've always played using DokuCraft. Personally its because of the fantasy-aspect it has, but its also common and always upkept so. I like it.

Agreed.I also enjoy DokuCraft. I don't play Minecraft very often, but I always have this enabled when I decide to play. Amazing.
It can be found here.

I would suggest the shaders with optifine and the photorealsim resource pack.

Shaders, and I mean all shaders, rape my FPS for some strange reason. 3:

SFLP shaders isn't a bad option for lower end computers. Anyways there are shaders for lower end computers.

I play Minecraft since 2010 and so far, I've only used Soartex Fanver, Faithful and Traditional Beauty.

I think I don't have to explain Faithful, it's the default textures, but in better.
Soartex Fanver gives a more calm and cool look to Minecraft, and doesn't go too far away from default.
Traditional Beauty IS default, but with a bit more detail in the textures, I recommend that you test it right away here : http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/map...er-600-000
