I havent been sued, or anything, but that's also because my isp doesnt give my ip or anything that i download away, so i guess im safe.

They get your IP by seeing who is seeding the movie. If you watch a movie on popcorn time, you also upload that movie for other people to watch. It isn't hard for them to open popcorn time and see who is seeding movies.
