Lua Advice?

Hey! I've been trying to create a server for a while now and I finally have extra money to do it. Ive been intrested in it for a while and I am already somewhat familiar with the game and very vERY basic Lua scripting. If there is any advice you guys could throw that would be amazing!

I have also recently started a server. But I had no knowledge what-so-ever or LUA scripting.

From looking around the files and editing whats needed, I have a basic understanding of what I am doing - but not to the point I could create a script for myself. My main advice - is to save a copy of any lua BEFORE you change it. So if you make a mistake - you can go back to before. I made this mistake one to many server crashing times, lol.
