@sevenops: You should check out Chromium, which is open-source (although does not contain all the proprietary codecs), I think on Ubuntu you can get it and update it from the official repositories each stable version, though someone will need to double-check me on that.

I also use Safari on MacOS, it ties in well with my iPhone because bookmark and tab sync across my devices.

Edge is one of the worst platforms I have ever seen, not only is it slow like its predecessor, but it is so buggy its not funny.

Still I feel that Microsoft edge is not good, I still use Google chrome or Mozilla...

Microsoft Edge is better than Internet Explorer but in my opinion it's still bad browser.
I sometimes use Edge but Opera for the rest.

i prefer google chrome though i do use edge now and then once in a blue moon.

I simply stick with Windows 7 and chrome. it works fine for me.
