Minecraft 1.13+ better?

Well yes, but actually no, 1.13 has some pretty nice features, smooth graphics, but it also has more to learn. 1.8 just is a nostalgic preference

In terms of servers, 1.13+ is just too CPU and RAM cosuming, as well as bad optimization. Look at the cases of some servers getting stuck at 1.12.2 because 1.13 is way laggier and they even bother to try it. I still prefer 1.8, a pretty light version that works fine!

it's better in some ways, but if you are looking for a PvP I don't think 1.13 is good for that
