Minecraft Server

hello I have a problem with minecraft server centos 7 that every time a server starts up the cpu up to 80% how can I limit or fix that?
I had that problem in Linux and could not solve it because it will be?
I don't understand about minecraft linux servers how they work but I always had the same problem: or

user512, what server version do you use, it is known that newer versions cause MUCH much more lag, for it to be fixed, downgrade to maybe 1.12.2 and 1.8 and then use viaversion to allow players from newer versions to join, if the problem still persists, you can reach me on discord, my username and tag is flaxeneel2#9210
