I'm currently in the process of setting up a selfhosted Spigot server for myself and a few friends to play on and am pretty overwhelmed by the number of plugins there are. What are some that you would say are essential or just extremely convenient.
(Server is running 1.12.2)

It depends on what type of server you are making. Essentials is good and has an array of everything, but can also be clunky and take up a lot of memory. Luckperms is a very good plugin for permissions that I highly recommend.

It all depends on what you want your server to do. worldguard, worldedit, a permissions plugin, essentials for an economy or and of the other economy plugins, slimefiun is always nice, core protect. many other plugins will depend on what you want your server to be.
