Minecraft is lagging for me, any advice?

Hey, this is my first post.
I used to be able to play Minecraft just fine up until a couple months ago. I had to hard reset my PC and MC hasn't worked since. I was kinda wondering because it's kinda strange. Even when I download Optifine it still lags immeasurably. I just was looking around for help, but I can't seem to find anything. Thx for the help!

I also tried putting all my settings to the lowest but I'm still getting just as much lag.

First question, What version of Minecraft are you running? Second question, What are you computer specs.

Honestly, I don't even know my specs, I know how to check but I can't right now. I'm running the 1.8.9 version but none of the versions seem to be working either.

Nowadays you need a full fledged gaming PC to even touch Minecraft... Nah, joking. You don't need anything decent, a laptop would do. I'd try lower your render distance.

get a better computer or turn down your settings so it wi8ll run better
