I'm gonna keep this real short, I just wanted to know if anyone else really struggles with the same issue and what they do about it

I always get big heaps of motivation when coming up with an idea for a game.I spend a week consistently working on it and making good progress, but then it just declines and I have no sort of excitement for working on the project whatsoever, little progress is made and eventually, the project is just scrapped.

Does anyone else feel the same way and if so what do you do about it?

Thanks for reading Smile

I do the exact same. I recently started programming a bullet hell and for two weeks super progress, then nothing. Same with a website I had put together. Sometimes inspiration is just fleeting I guess.

Unreal engine is something that gets you too eager to launch but then you get lazy

Try to do something else after you work hard on your project. It is bad idea to focus on 1 task only.

And try to find a goal. It is a lot easier to be motivated when you have a clear goal.
For instance, you could participate to a contest.

I've found that in most things, motivation just isn't reliable enough to carry me through. I practice discipline instead, lame as it sounds. Come up with a reasonable set of goals/milestones that if completed would give you your minimum viable product (stuff can always be added later). Decide what your timeframe will be for the project, then dedicate small, set chunks of time to chip away at it. Sure if you feel motivated the first couple of weeks, go nuts - but after that stick to your plan. Do an hour a day if that's all you can push for. Focus on keeping organized as much as possible, future you will thank you.

I learned java and code in java because on justt one main and heavenly reason.... I got nothing else to do! I am bored! I read all of my mangas, watched all good anime, read hundreds of novels and finished watching best movies and series so Just gonna find new hobby! Thats was my motivation to learn coding and is atm too to continue coding..

My advice would be to create some concept arts first. Sketches, some visual proof of concept and designs that you can publish and show some people.

When you have it published, you'll feel more obligated to make further progress.
Even if it's something that others like, and you could constantly post updates about your progress and others can cheer you in comments.

That's the best feeling and it makes you accountable.
