Seen a bunch of suggestions for Whiplash, excellent movie. Mysterious Skin is as well.
Can't believe no one has suggested The Shawshank Redemption yet. Must watch!
For a lesser-known, short and absolutely mind-blowing series, check out Last Resort with Andre Braugher and Scott Speedman. 10/10 series

By far the best movie of the 2010s, an absolutely unforgettable masterpiece that is sure to stand the test of time. Great performances, great directing, and a great score all make this an extremely memorable film, and while the ending may be a bit too long for some, I think that it works.
