I'm guessing the 80s - 90s kids really loved their NES, because the classic edition has already run out of stock in the US.

I have a couple, but never thought they would skyrocket that high in price. Scalpers really know how to fuck Nintendo shit up (see: GameCube adapter for Wii U). It was easier to get all the hard-to-find Nintendo stuff for me in Japan because I have... reasons :spooky:

Lol this could be done on an emulator for free.

But I have an original NES with the classics. Just got it fixed like a month ago. It's pretty sick to use actually. We also had an NES Max or something. one of those controllers with a turbo button. It's so fun to mess around with it

It could, but if you could have the real deal hardware (it is, but with modern technology we are able to compress it!) then it just feels better. Nostalgia is very powerful.
