I have a lot of projects that use PHP - its simple, Node.js is weird to setup but it is also a good software.

It's a matter of preference. PHP isn't the most beautiful but it works great, It's syntax is similar to C++.

I think PHP is up and coming. I think PHP is really good, and frameworks like Laravel make it really good. I reckon it will hold in the future. It's a tough choice if you need to choose one or the other to learn. I think PHP is easdier to learn because its so established and there's so many resources for it... however javascript and Node.js, from what I've seen, appear to be more valuable to employers as compared to PHP. For that reason, I'd go with node.js if I was starting out AND looking to move into that role for a career. Personally, I'll be writing my next thing in PHP Smile

PHP is still going strong. It's easy to learn and widely available. Wordpress, Drupal etc are all written in PHP and run most sites on the internet.

I know a lot of PHP developers, and it seems most of them are slowly switching over to Node. They tell me they see more of a future with it, as everything is shifting to Javascript. Javascript frameworks such as React/Angular are already taking over the frontend, and there is a huge push to head in that direction in the backend.
