Different motherboards have different features, some of which maybe be useless to a relatively newbie user.

The first thing you need to know about motherboards is they are bound to the CPU chipset. So AMD vs Intel chips do not share motherboards, and even different series of chips within AMD or intel may not share the same motherboard. Make sure the motherboard you are purchasing is compatible with the CPU.

There are also different sizes of motherboards. Make sure your motherboard fits in your case.

Motherboard features often involve additional PCIE slots. For the average user this is normally used for a graphics card. You might also use stuff like soundcards if you are an audiophile, or a PCIE SSD if for some reason you have one. Unless you plan on doing something fancy I wouldn't worry too much about these "features"
