People that make tons of money, how did you do it?

I've asked all of my friends that live in big houses in their 20's, most of them really got there by opportunities that only could be described as the luck of the draw. How do you make yourself available to these opportunities? If you make loads, how'd you get there? I'm only asking those that aren't nepo babies, people that really came from the ground up.
