Please stop the thread necro-ing.

If you look on the sidebar, most of the threads being interacted with are old threads, some from a year ago, some from 2, and some from even 3 years ago. Its just crazy and really makes things worse. If you made the side bar promote new content, it would be better, and would stop from one thread being spammed with 100s of comments without anyone reading what other people said.

I like this idea. I'm pretty sure I used that sidebar recently and made a post on a very old/outdated thread, adding to people's annoyance indirectly (sorry!). Maybe make the sidebar show recently commented-on posts only on threads that were posted within a certain time. Great idea by OP.

You can report the user bumping old threads and we'll warn the user, besides that the sidebar will just show recent activity on the forums. I don't know if this is something we'd change since if everyone only posted on old threads and didn't make new ones it would be empty.

how about only allowing users that are older than the thread to necro.
