But I'm ready, got 2 VPS setup 1 out of country 1 in, got a NordVPN account as a backup VPN and got ProtonVPN as a secondary backup. Net Neutrality aint gunna affect me, I guess I should setup my DDWRT router though for the rest of my family. I wonder what bullshit my ISP has planned, are they legally obligated to inform you of the changes that they make? Where quite a few people live there is only the option for one ISP, and there aren't too many new startup ISPs out there right now. Like for me I'm pretty sure my only option is AT&T
I don't think any decent competitors will come out either because the larger companies can easily crush them as they literally own the monopoly. Obviously would be really nice to see some sort of new ISP offering different things including an actual open internet - but I'm not sure if something will emerge.Sad an open place has ended up like this.I suppose it will be the case that a VPN will be like a second ISP because everyone will be using such to actually access the internet properly.
While the loss of NN is definitely a bad thing overall, there are some positives. The loss of NN can lead to innovation and the reduction of monopolies over the US. This will allow for more competition and could ultimately lead to benefits for the customer, like reduced pricing or better speeds and packages. There is a big if nested in there, but it something that cannot be ignored.
(UK user speaking here for the record, just an area I've looked into quite a bit. Just playing devil's advocate)
