The forum is free for everyone to use, it stays up because of Ads, Donations and upgrade money. If there's a way to implement a reward into the upgrading system it's imperative that it's added. Don't forget things aren't free in this world, one way or another someone is paying for everything.
The upgrades help the forum stay online and help with the costs of owning a domain and such.
If you don't want to upgrade that's okay, but allowing standard members to have access to more features would also mean that leechers have access to those features. IF you want to be respected and stand out from the rest, you try and get into higher quality groups, and most of the times that means upgrading to be part of something else.
I understand where you are coming from but if we take in count all the points we need to remember that everything has to make money to function, $10 isn't really a lot to be honest. I'm sure you may spend more on other things and it looks ridiculous to spend $10 on an upgrade but there are a lot of things not listed. The rewards from upgrading are there just so people buy the upgrade and keep the servers and domain up without giving Aoki a huge bill that he would have to pay with his own money.

What? I mean we are discussing why certain things should stay a certain way.
At the end of the day everything comes down to money, money makes NBB work so that's why we have upgrades and shit <3

Well, you don't exactly need a 500-word essay as your signature but if people want it I guess so.

Good idea, I feel this would be nice for people that have other users' names in the signature. Maybe the higher your upgrade is the higher your signature character limit is?

No one is saying an essay but enough characters to be able to format and add more stuff. Because just a picture link is about 20ish characters, if you want any formatting that adds too.

I can go with removing the upgraded requirement, but the standard requirements should be based only posts not reputation. At that point most users either upgrade or get upgraded, but like I said I do not want to force people to upgrade if they want better features.

Please accept this. If the problem is forum storage you could make this purchasable with credits or include it in premium member benefits like with inbox space. I need to add characters to my signiture, but can't because I'm over.
