Is it just me or are steam games generally slower than direct downloaded games?

Could be because of the steam cloud, steam overlay or maybe even just the fact that your connecting to other players on the steam network

Meybe u need better internet connecting. I cant download games realy quick, :D

Do you mean a slower framerate while playing or a slower download speed?
