Hardcore has been an issue for me ever since it was released way back. The problem is there should be an intermediary step before simply goin:

"oh they fell off a cliff in a cave, guess its time for a new world."

They need a hard mode but not quite hardcore and not simple buffing the mobs and disabling natural regen.

My answer: Survival + Hardcore DataPacks (best of both worlds with no stupid drawbacks)

Hardcore for the challenge, there is nothing like it. I also like the different way it makes your hearts look.

I always run survival. I do test some ideas and palettes in creative before using my survival resources from time to time. Only time I run hardcore is with friends.

Creative if you want to just build and get unlimited blocks, survival if you want to battle for it, and hardcore if you are really good at it

Survival is in my opinion the most enjoyable, creative gets boring and hardcore is just not enjoyable.
