Hi.

I used to run a server and decided to buy a separateone using different hosting. I'm using SerenityServers for DarkRp and how encountered quite a few problems.

Pros.

1. The server itself

Hosting the server itself you will almost get no lag and never crash (unencountered problems is the exception), they have Ddos protection and many locations across the states and 1 in Canada. So even if your a laggy person it's hard to get even more lag for no reason.

2. Options

When buying a server they have many customizationsto suit your needs. You can pay monthly, quarterly, semi annually orannually. They even have a "Darkrp configuration" which ismeant to set up most of your server for you. see below.

3. Very clean controll panel

The look and usage of the controll panel isvery clean and easy to use. Even if you don't know what your doing it's pretty self explanatory.

Cons.

1. Darkrp Configuration

I can go off about this all day long. My personal experience with this is bad. They are supposed toconfigure most of DarkRp for you (They try at least). I wantedCSS on m9k base weapons on my server but since the guns are on m9k base they just added m9k weapons instead, leaving me to fix it myself. They add jobs for you but they are very simple jobs. I.e. you cannot get a mayor that demotes on death because thats not in there format. They only make 15 shipments of weapons for gun dealers leaving you to do the rest. It costs $40 cad for Darkrp config but theybreak more things then they add/fix. Would not recommend. They left me with over 10 things I had to fix myself. You really have to be exact on what you want or they will mess up. I'm not saying this is a bad feature it's just when I paid the $40 cad I got ripped off big time.

2. Customer support

It says on there website that they have "10/10" tech support. They use a ticket system where you file a help ticket. On the ticket it states your problem. The first time I filed a help ticket it took 2 hours for a response. the second time it almost took 3 days. They don't really help you that much on how to do things, you mainly have to refer to youtube videos or there knowledge base on how to fix your problem. When I was talking to support I felt like they didn't care about helping me and they were just chucking solutions at me.

3. Breaking things

This refers to "Customer support". When you ask for help sometimes (very rarely) they will "fix" the problem for you. One time no one could connect to my server (I accidentally deleted a file). They went into my files and come out with my problem fixed and 5 lua errors that the console said were "unknown". It took me 3 WEEKSAFTER buying my server for it to be playable. I didn't even bother asking for more help. I eventually fixed the problem buy locating the files with console commands.

Overall

Would not recommend for people that don't know what there doing.

I would highly recommend for people that know what there doing around lua.

This is a very do it yourself kinda deal.

Reason for rating?

I think a 6/10 is reasonable because, hosting the server itself you will have no problems. The only time you might have a problem is when your editing files and happen to break something that you can't fix,you may have to contact support. Support with "try there hardest" to help you but if you don't know what the problem is EXACTLY they will break more things then they will fix. The hosting itself is great, the server will run like a dream, just try to stay away from contacting support or buying Darkrp configuration. For it's easy usage and quality hosting that bumps this 0/10 to a 6/10
