I do agree. They really do have good specs and great servers in general, but what I meant by a network developer is the a person that gets the server ready for you. I was told that I have to wait for the services that I paid for because there network developer was sick, hinting at the point that they only have one network dev.

Ah I see. Well im sure every host has there problems. Sorry to hear it affected you.

The only reason people say it's bad is because it's not a server host, it's a web host.

Haha! Thats very true! There is quite a big difference between them as well.

This is the EXACT REASON you should always go find a hosting company with a good reputation. Now I didn't reveal the name of the support agent because he really did try to help. I'm also not going to reveal the name of the owner as it really could've been a slip up as they are a newer hosting company.

While it isgood advice to find a reputablehosting company to do business with,I think you've actually missed the real lesson here (although you did touch on it briefly in passing)...

Always perform regular backups of your data if it's important to you!

I lost anentire production web server running multiple websitesin averysimilar wayto you (and also without backups)... however, by mostreasonable measures, mineactuallywasareputable hosting companyfrom 2001,right up until the moment 16 years later whentheir servers went offline, emails started bouncing backand eventheir DNS stopped responding...andthat was the last time that anyone everheard from them.

But putting that aside, there's actuallyshitloads of otherways for you tolose your data and end up in the exact same boat regardless of yourhost'sreputation...viruses, hackers, hardware failure, natural disasters, human error, power loss, corrupted data, even just abad update or a typo in a script...

So, I'll say it once morejust for good measurealways, always keepregular, off-site backups of your important data subscribing toadditional backup servicesthrough the samecompany that's hosting you doesn't provide as much of a safety net as people thinkeither, but it's better than nothing if that's the alternative.

But yeah, losing data blows the big one...Feelsbadman

100% agreed. Making Backups is a must and you should always have a backup on your drive somewhere. Just to touch back on my topic though I did find an old backup from May 31st, that's at least something.

I always do my server development locally. Then I throw a copy of it on a Linux instance, no surprises like a crappy Gmod host's panel or whatnot.

Good idea but not if your looking to run a server will lots of people on it. Certain scripts (Mainly billy's scripts) don't work on local hosts and it will drive you electricity bill through the roof, you also need a private internet source just for the local host to run a server with 20+ people on it.
