Thoughts on school phone ban?

I (20M, Studying education) personally think a universal ban on cellphones in school is kinda dumb. The excuse that alot tend to use is that it's "distracting". I personally think that moderation is the key, not a carpet rule. There's just so many ways a cellular device could come in handy; especially for a student. Let me know your thoughts

I personally think it is good idea. Younger classes should have banned phones. But also more mature students should be able to keep the phone, atleast turned on.
