This guy is a moron. So unnecessary. It seems cool in theory, but just is not something the United States needs right now.

There's no reason to do this at this time. It's definitely cool thinking about it. It's like Star Wars in real life. However we have to consider **what on Earth** would their responsibilities be if we had it established 2018 or even in the next decade. What are we even having this branch of military defending the United States from? How many countries pose an actual threat from space? Seems cool, but won't gain much support.

I guess it might be a first step of introducing orbital weaponry. Maybe DARPA's got some idea of putting ICBMs in orbit for an immediate strike wherever it's needed in case of WWIII? Sounds like a conspiracy theory, I know. But I can't find any other reason for this decision than that .

The military spends alot more money than nasa so if we bring in military funding to space it will push innovation in a area that has had so little activity recently.

Getting a space military branch will improve a lot our research over space, they said that by the 2027 we will have a functional spaceship with military inside.

It's a stupid idea. International treaties forbid placing weapons in the space. Also NASA and the airforce already handle all the space related stuff so why go through the trouble?
