Why not? They're open source.

Which is more of a reason not to use them.
Everyone has them.
Better to be unique.

Though 50 emotes will probably cost a ton..
Not to mention if they're good they'll get ripped anyway.

But why 50 of them?

Because that's how many we have right now.
Also having a smiley face and a sad face wouldn't be enough.

Hence why I said that I believe just using presets like twitter snapchat or android emojis would be so much easier, custom smilies don't really need to be a priority, but more so giving the comments a "new face" in a sense.

I didn't disagree with you btw, I wouldn't mind replacing some of them.

Since V3 will be mobile compatible, I think it'd be the best if we'd just add support for emojis, which are used on phones. (http://getemoji.com/)
I'm not sure how this would work since I've never looked into it, but I assume it won't be too hard.

probably easiest to run them trough the mybb smiley thing, turning the emoji triggers (? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?? ?? ? ??? ??? ? ..) into images, which makes them work on PC.

Some seem to already work. But you'd have to have some sort of conversion for different devices. Not all iphone emojis are viewable on android, and vise versa. Might want to check out twemoji(Emoji support library by twitter.) It converts unicode into the respective emoji automatically. If that's what you need.

I actually thought they use the same, hm. I've always used iOS, so I didn't know this. I'll look into it.

Some work. I know when I send emjois to an ios user most of them are turned into question marks.

Thats not 100% true.
I can see all ios emojis sent to me but ios users cant see most android emojis sent to them.
